The conference, chaired by Professor Rod Kedward (University of Sussex), dealt with three themes: Organising Resistance in France, Cooperation and Conflict and Beyond the Free French: Diversity of Resistance. Among the topics that has been discussed are the role of women in the Resistance and the BBC and the way that French people communicated with the Free French. Resistance leader Raymond Aubrac spoke on Resisting in France, Free French Secret Agent Stéphane Hessel discussed Organising Resistance from London. Other speakers in the conference are: Professor Michael RD Foot, historian of Special Operations Executive (S.O.E), Dr Sébastien Albertelli (Centre d'Histoire de Sciences-Po), Professor Robert Belot (Université de Technologie de Belfort-Montbéliard), Dr Hanna Diamond (University of Bath), Professor Martyn Cornick (University of Birmingham), Dr Matthew Cobb (University of Manchester), Dr Simon Kitson (University of London Institute in Paris), Dr Karen Adler (University of Nottingham), historian Mark Seaman, Professor Margaret Atack (University of Leeds) and Professor Sylvie Lindeperg (University of Paris – Panthéon Sorbonne).
